Do I have to call the police after every car accident?
No. If there is property damage only, the police are not necessarily required when all parties can prove their name and address to each other. If that is not possible, the police must be notified.
What do I need to exchange when there is property damage only?
If the police are not notified, name and address must be proven. For the practical claims process, you should also document license plates, insurance details, vehicle details, accident location, time, photos, a sketch and witnesses.
Can I create the accident report digitally?
Yes. Documentation can be digital as long as the relevant information is captured completely. Unfallbericht.at guides you through the details in a structured way and creates a PDF for further use. Digital documentation does not replace statutory duties.
What should I do if I do not have a European Accident Report form in the car?
